I bought a real police car

Postby TornadoLon » Tue Mar 02, 2010 12:32 pm

Okay, this isn't Dukes of Hazzard related... but last week I bought a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor that was former an Oklahoma City Police Department patrol car. Its black and white, 4.6L V8 and still has the Interceptor police chip in the computer. I need to get a new photobucket so I can post pics but a small number of y'all (like Cousin Don) have been able to see her on my Facebook.]

I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with it. I've always wanted to buy a used police car, with the police chip still in it.

I'll admit, I'm being a bit of a wimp with her... I've gotten on it a few times in her and it honestly SCARED me so now I'm keeping it 'real' LOL

that's cool. There's a website called govdeals.com where they have alot of retired vehicles for cheap too! I've always thought it'd be cool to have a old cop car and trick people on the road to think it's a unmarked car

It's both a blessing and a curse.... a few days ago, around 6 am, I was in a hurry to get my 15-yr-old daughter into town to meet her honors choir for the 3 coaches they rented to drive to Denver for an honors convention... we left late and were in a hurry...and all the damn traffic in front of me saw me in their mirrors and kept slowing down. In my way... Grrr....

I have driven three P71 police crown vics and can tell you that there is no need to get scared because they aren't really fast at all. They do not have special police "chips" in them, they have diffrerent trans shift points and different emissions settings as they have to be 50 state legal. But not tuned PCM's like most people think 8) They do however have heavy duty parts such as suspension, driveshaft, etc. My buddy has had two of them and I helped him work on them and have talked to the Ford dealer about them many times. The 2004 or 2005 model year came with a new/better intake but as far as I know that was the only thing they did to improve HP. They are so fun to drive though! Everyone does slow down especially when it's black and white :D

Lon, bud, think about it man  , your driving a black and white car that just so happens to be a retired police car. Now think if you was the person in the other car and see the blac and white cop car coming up and it was a police car you would slow down as well. They just thought you was some one else and didn't want to get a ticket for speedin in front of that black and white car was all  . Here is alittle advice, if your in a hurry, don't use a retired police car man as that can only slow things down more
If your looking to auction something off, I would suggest boocoo.com auctions ;)

a friend of mine used to have an old cop car, if i remember it was a old LTD cop car. it still had the light bar and everything on it. We used to take it up in the woods when we knew alot of people especially under age people drinking and partying in the woods. we would sneak into one of the paths and turn on the lights and sirens, all you see is hundred of people running for there lives. Then a couple of us would go up to the party site, and drink there beer and see what they left. they fell for it every time we did it. there were only a few who were partying in the woods would know. But later on my friend did that somewhere else and the Real cops seen it and confiscated the car. and gave him a fine. He eventually got his car back but the cops stripped off the light bar and the sirens.

Actually in alot of states, no. Florida prohibits tan/black, since it's our Highway Patrol colors.
