Hey that will be great looking forward hanging out with all my Dukes of Hazards friends. I have already spoke with the Mexican place already, I will have to get a count on how many people will attend ahead of time, to let the Mexican place know the head count.

Just checking to see how many people have registered for the run so far? The quicker you register will give us a better idea of how many shirts to order.
I have decided that since so many people like different types of food it would be better if you all plan on dinner yourself and finding your own place to eat. I'm not going to worry about trying to coordinate a specific place for everyone. That way we can all enjoy ourselves and not worry about squabbling over where is the best place to eat etc.

Also don't forget to tell your friends and family that if they have classic cars they can also join the cruise. Just let me know

If you have questions give me a call 1-765-341-6949.

Hey there Y'all!

I just wanted to jump in here with a few things we've been discussing for this years event.

First - for this years ride we were thinking of finding either a real cool tourist stop or real cool scenic look-out spot that we can just have our own little picnic at. I'll bring a cooler, Bob said he will bring a cooler, so if we can get 1 or 2 more folks who can bring a cooler we can pack anything we would need for the picnic. This way it's all about us. All of us friends getting together, hanging out & making memories.

The problem is we still need to find a good location to stop at on the way to Gatlinburg - so if anyone knows of a spot or has time to do some googling/map questing for a spot that would be great!

Also, another idea is to have some cool activities for all of us to do once in Gatlinburg. Now the run itself Saturday may not afford us the time to do it once we get to Cooter's so perhaps this will be stuff for us to do early Sunday.

Some ideas I'm tossing around are:
- RUN-THEJUG CONTEST! (We will mark out a starting point, a turn around, and an ending spot in a lot somewhere. When we say "GO" each team will have to run to his car, open the trunk, load it up with jugs of 'Moonshine" (water........at least that's what we'll tell everyone!!!! LOL), jump through the window, start the car, then drive the coarse - first one back wins!)

- TIRE CHANGING CONTEST! (each team will have "BO" & "LUKE" sitting in the car, both have to jump out through the windows, open the trunk, get the jack & spare, change the tire, put everything back in the trunk, and the first team that has both members back in the car wins!)

- DUKES TRIVIA (Our version of JEOPARDY!)

- SCAVENGER HUNT (This is something we used to do back in Covington years ago and we had a lot of fun)

So come on - put on yer thinkin' caps! What other activities can we do?????

- Jett

Sounds like some good ideas there. Makes me wish I was going.

Beth and I are now registered for the 2nd Annual Hazzard Run. I for one plan on just stopping and getting gas. I want to get to Gatlingurg early enough to enjoy the sights and visit with Cooter. Maybe play a little golf or run someone over in a go-kart. So you can count me out of the picnic idea at least at the halfway mark. Last year took so long because of the stop in the middle and who wants to drive not only 4 hours but sit around for another 2 eating or signing stuff. If anything why not have the picnic or something like that when we get to Gatlinburg? It would make more sense this way as many of us could check into wherever we are staying, take a nice shower then get together to eat and converse.
I kind of liked how we had the setup at the BBQ this spring at Cooters in Nashville. No real headaches and no real pains, well except for some arm hair that got burnt from running the grill.. ;) I will be hauling my car so i plan on leaving my truck/trailer in Nashville so i would probably leave mid afternoon on Sunday.

I can also bring my 16mm projector and run Dukes stuff later Sat night if need be like we did in Nashville, of course i do plan on bringing a few more speakers so we can hear better... ;)

The other stuff you mentioned Jett sounds great and all, but lets do it once we get to Gatlinburg, not while we are getting there.

Steve, I agree with you. Dana and I are only planning on stopping to get gas. It would be best to get to Gatlinburg without too many sidetrips or delays. And then from there eat or do whatever. We are planning to follow Bobby and he is not stopping except for gas that is the only way to do it especially the way traffic will be the later we are getting to Gatlinburg especially on a Friday night. Once we get to Gatlinburg we can eat, play games, tour or whatever anyone wants to do at that point.

Jett: You and I discussed on the phone the option of stopping at a tourist stop along the way a week or so ago. Thought this had been decided as a no go, especially after speaking with Alma. Cooter was worn out after the stop last year for more than 2 hours signing autographs. We car owners did nothing but sit back (while the public ate the pizza provided for us car owners) and watch the mess of the public swarming Ben and our cars. Then to top it off we got to Gatlinburg so late that Ben did not have time to sign autographs for everyone that waited for hours that day for us to arrive.

Here is the thing. If any of the car owners wish to stop at a tourist area that is their option. I, for one, will not be stopping other than to get gas. I want to get to Gatlinburg and enjoy myself and hang out with my friends. The best part of the Hazzard run last year was driving the cars across TN together. Not the public and not the stopping. If this is going to be a fanfest event then I personally think it loses its appeal and purpose.

The games are a nice idea for those that want to participate. That would probably be fun. I'll try to get door prizes again like I did for the Hazzard cookout (thanks again Ben and Kenneth for donations).

If we need to discuss further I would appreciate that you give me a call.

Thanks.
