BREAKING NEWS!

LOST VALUZET WB GENERAL LEE FOUND IN INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI!

July 2006 - After numerous rumors of its existence, Club Members Steve Stanley and Scott Romine finally tracked down one of the last remaining screen-used Valuzet-era General Lees in the backyard of a Missouri Farmhouse. It was the end of a desperate search to confirm a long-held rumor that an original General Lee was in the area - and that the title had been discovered in a Cracker Jack box purchased from an Arizona convience store in November 1987.

After purchasing that title on Ebay in 1999 for an undisclosed amount of money (the box was no longer intact), Scott and Steve searched desperately for the car they knew they could ultimately claim ownership of....they were, afterall, the title holders.

The big break came earlier this year. An email received through Steve and Scott's joint website www.pleasefortheloveofgodlookatus.com claiming to have a Real General Lee and requesting that its identity be confirmed. Naturally the boys asked a few questions to try and narrow down the possibility the car was real before investing in travelling to personally inspect the car. The owner was given the standard list of questions.

1. Did the car still have door handles?

2. Was the license plate CHN 230?

3. Was it orange?

4. Was John Schneider's initials carved in the ash tray door?

After the initial questions were confirmed - the boys knew they were on to something. Had they found the motherload? After all these years was the title bought on ebay going to prove authentic? To confirm their suspicions the boys immediately posted on the cglfc.com website message board the following message "we found a real general lee and it's in a yard at 13561 Ironton Road in Independence, Missouri and we're planning to go out and look at it and we think they want to sell it for $250."

In hindsight, that was not the smartest thing to do. Another fan showed up and traded two old weed-eaters and a box of MAXIM magazines for the car.

Boy are Scott and Steve stupid.

The car turned out to be confirmed a real General Lee used as a close-up car in Georgia, one episode of Knight Rider and appeared in the background on episode 132 of "What's Happening Now?". It apparently left the WB lot and for some unknown reason was hauled to a salvage yard in Alabama (from California) where someone's cousin's sisters uncle's brother-in-law bought it from the salvage yard.

Everyone has heard the story. It's 100% true. For years General Lee owners have been attending car shows where other random General Lee experts have meticulously relayed this story to them word for word..except generally it's their relative who owns the car.

Well, were glad to say the story is 100% true. The door handles were added to the car years after its actual screen use. The original black interior is sadly missing. These pictures prove the story. Steve and Scott still hold the title to this day....
